Developers earn revenue by displaying text and image ads in their iPhone and Android apps. The AdSense for Mobile Applications site offers answers to frequently asked questions and a sign-up to participate in the beta. To participate, developers must have an app that\’s ready to implement, is free, already gets a minimum of 100,000 page views daily and runs on either Android or iPhone. Google will contact publishers who meet that criteria, and agree to participate for at least three months, on a rolling basis.

A number of partners worked with Google on the trial stages of this project, including Backgrounds, Sega, Shazam and Urbanspoon. Urbanspoon, an application that helps users locate restaurants in their vicinity, offers targeted and related advertising content that enhances the search experience.
