Western Digital has launched its fastest SATA hard disk drive with 600-GB VelociRaptor, doubling the capacity of the company\'s earlier hard disk drive. Earlier it has maximum of 300 GB of storage.
Western Digital latest VelociRaptors, available with 450 GB or 600 GB of storage, are the only 10,000 RPM drives in the market that support the SATA 6-Gb-per-second interface standard. The drives come with a five-year warranty. The price of this 600-GB Hard Disk Drive is estimated as $329.

The Blu-ray Disc Association has announced that formal enhancements to the Blu-ray specification. . The new enhancements will include a new BDXL specification that targets are markets where archiving large quantities of data is common such as broadcasting, medical, and document imaging.
The BDXL specification will have discs that are write-once and will store 100GB and 128GB of data per disc. There will be rewritable discs that can store 100GB of data. The 100GB disc will have three recordable layers and the 128GB disc will have four recordable layers.

Samsung Electronics Operates with own Operating System Named Bada
Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Director, Mobile and IT, Samsung India said that Samsung Electronics will launch its own Operating System, Bada, in the second quarter of next fiscal.
He said this when he was on the occasion of the launch of two new dual sim handsets (B-5722 and Duos 259) taking the number of company\'s dual sim handsets to six, including GSM and CDMA segments. He said that he is expecting dual sim phones to contribute 15 per cent of its total handset volumes this year. He explained that dual sim phones were becoming the answer to consumers looking for better performance, value addition, and segregation of numbers for personal and attractive propositions from different service providers without the necessity of carrying two or three handsets.
Mr. Yadav said that Samsung India hosted a Java application store on Samsung Fun Club with access to 40 multimedia applications. Another ten more applications on Samsung Fun Club would be added by the end of this month.
